Yes, you can now mail cards from your own personal computer or notebook.
Everyone likes receiving greeting cards. They are a sign that the sender of the card cares for us, or is thinking about us.
Often good intentions of sending cards are not followed through with, because we are not near a shop selling the appropriate cards or we don’t have stamps or are near a post box.
None of those excuses are valid any longer. There is now unique service available which allows us to choose a card from many different categories on our computer. We can choose a design from the thousands of designs available. We can write an individualised appropriate message in the card.
After giving other information such as the recipient’s postal address etc., we can hit a “send” key on the computer screen, and our card goes off to be individually printed on good quality paper. It is then packaged and posted to the recipient. All this can be done without the sender even having to leave their own computer. There is even an option with which you can upload your own photos and even use your own handwriting if you so desire.
Now this service has been available for several years in the USA, and anyone using the service could design and post cards using the US postal service to anyone anywhere in the world who had a postal address.
Cards posted to recipients in the USA would attract local US postage rates only, whereas those posted to many other countries would attract the overseas airmail postage rates.
The service is very easy to use and is inexpensive. In many cases the card cost is much less than you would pay for a similar card from a newsagent or stationery shop.
The really exciting news for me as an Aussie is that from September 2008, these cards will be printed in Australia also. That means that any Aussie sending cards to any other Aussie will just have to pay for the nominal card cost and the local Aussie postage rates.
This service is going to BOOM in Australia, just like it has in the USA.
